Time Leaps - The Origins

Journey into the prehistory of Salzburg
The Dürrnberg in Hallein is regarded as an outstanding prehistoric site in European comparison. From now on, this fact will be taken into account with a special exhibition on the prehistory of the province of Salzburg.

The presentation, which covers the entire ground floor of the Celtic Museum Hallein, draws on the rich archaeological collection of the Salzburg Museum. Unique objects such as the Bronze Age helmet from Pass Lueg, the finds from the copper mines of the Mitterberg or the Celtic gold torques from the Maschlalm near Rauris are presented. Numerous other objects from all epochs - from the Mesolithic to the end of the pre-Roman Iron Age - illustrate the importance that the present-day province of Salzburg has had since the 9th millennium BC due to its central location and its wealth of raw materials.

Great importance was attached to a family-friendly design with interactive incentives for all age groups - kURt, the prehistoric worm, accompanies the young visitors on their journey through time.
